The video journey hits a milestone

I tend to spend time on one hobby at a time. I have two that I am passionate about, photography and music, but I’ve never been into both at the same point in time. There was a time when I was writing a lot of music but not taking too many pictures, and other times (like the last couple of years) where I’ve been deep into photography, but haven’t written much music. Last year, I became determined to change that. For the first time in over a decade, I got a new camera (a Canon EOS R5) with the explicit intention of doing more photography, but also more video. I wanted to shoot video to which I could add my own music. Fast forward 18 months and I have recorded a lot of video but I haven’t started the music bit yet. That’s still in the works.

What has happened though is that the videos have evolved from short clips to longer sequences to finally a key milestone; my first vlog style video. It’s also the first time that I really spent time with color grading and adding layers of music and effects. I quite enjoyed the story telling aspect of the vlog. It wasn’t the one I had planned; that one got dashed by the weather, but it did end up being a ton of fun. Can’t wait to do more.
